{"id":539,"date":"2023-09-13T11:49:10","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T18:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kingchem.org\/?page_id=539"},"modified":"2023-09-20T13:43:16","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T20:43:16","slug":"539-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kingchem.org\/?page_id=539","title":{"rendered":"UV Ozone Cleaning Instructions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UV Ozone cleaner (UVO) is located in the shared instrument lab (SIL) in the far left fume hood.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the UVO and place a microscope slide holding chips onto the metal surface, ensure that there is clearance to close the lid before closing with pressure, the lid should lock into place.<\/li>\n<li>Power on the machine and press and hold the <strong>Mode<\/strong> button until the red light changes from minutes\/seconds to hours\/minutes. Adjust time to clean as needed using the <strong>Increase <\/strong>or <strong>Decrease <\/strong>buttons, a typical cleaning should only need 30 minutes, but additional time is available.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the oxygen tank is connect to the UVO, open the tank and adjust the flow so that a trickle of oxygen is released. Just enough so that if you press your finger to the nozzle you feel a slight pressure. Reconnect the tubing after adjusting flow (generally only the final valve needs to be adjusted, the main regulator valve is already at a very low pressure).<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>Start<\/strong> on the machine, the green light will illuminate while running. Allow to run for desired time.<\/li>\n<li>If still running when you return, press the <strong>Stop<\/strong> button, open the lid, and remove chips. The slide will be somewhat hot, use caution so as not to drop the chips.<\/li>\n<li>Power off the UVO. <strong>Remember to shut off the oxygen valve, it will be empty for next time if you do not.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>* Sometimes the power in the fume hood is finicky, you may need to try a different outlet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UV Ozone cleaner (UVO) is located in the shared instrument lab (SIL) in the far left fume hood.
